This class teaches about parenthood and provides knowledge and experience for students interested in elementary education, psychology, pediatrics, social work and early childhood education. Explore subjects such as parenting, nurturing and understanding how a child develops physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Students will learn parenting skills, reproduction, genetics, birth defects, prenatal development, nutrition, toys and play, health
and safety. They can complete CPR instruction, gain certification and work with small children in a simulated one-day childcare program that they
will plan and organize. Students may also choose to participate in FCCLA, the Family & Consumer Science student organization.
